Day 1 Moken Snorkel Tour

8.00 Meet your translator at the Andaman Discoveries office for a pre-trip briefing and then transfer to the Kuraburi Pier. Depart for Koh Surin by speedboat (around 1 hour)
Check into your tent accommodations at the National Park Headquarters. Relax, unwind and enjoy the peaceful beach with its blue waters and white sand
Noon
Enjoy Thai style lunch at the National Park Headquarters.
After lunch, meet your Moken guide and take a snorkel tour to see the underwater life of the sea gypsies, how they have adapted to living in the water, and why they love it. Watch as your Moken guide spots sea turtles and sharks swimming in the waters.
End your day with your Moken guide and return to the park headquarters for free time

Dinner at the park headquarter

Day 2 Life of the Sea Gypsies
Morning
Breakfast at the park headquarter.
Meet you local guide and take a long tail boat trip to the Moken village.
A tour around the village is an insight into the intricate relationship between the Moken and their surrounding environment. Learn about the brightly coloured “Spirit Poles” and Moken homes, built on wooden stilts directly on the beach.
Participate in a handicraft workshop and learn the traditional art of Moken weaving. Use forest Pandanus leaves to weave a natural bracelet. Keep it as a souvenir and show off to your friends at home
Noon
Pack Lunch in village at the Moken house live like a local.
Forest hike – your Moken guide will highlight useful plants, including medicinal herbs, edible species, and those used in construction of traditional houseboats
Snorkel – coral reef exploration with Moken guide. Your guide will take you to a wonderland of colourful tropical fish and allow you to witness the impressive Moken swimming techniques. Back at the park headquarters enjoy free time to walk the beach, relax, and enjoy the sunset.

Day 3 Mythology of the Moken
Morning
Breakfast at the park headquarter.
Transfer to Moken village by long tail boat then try your hand at rowing a Moken “row-boat” and re-enacting their method of spear fishing.
Reunite with you Moken guide for more snorkel at a new site or another visit to the village. Snorkel with your Moken guide if time permits
Noon
Return to the park headquarters to have lunch. Pack your belongs and prepare for departure from the island.
15.00 Depart Koh Surin by speedboat to Kuraburi Pier. Transfer back to Kuraburi town to end your program around 17.00 pm.
Moken Music Activity- Listen to beautiful songs that tell stories and the history of the Moken people. Day of Moken music will be decided by guide.

ENVIRONMENTAL CODE OF CONDUCT:
Koh Surin National Park is a protected area and this environmental code of conduct is to help us preserve this stunning natural area.
We have to be concerned about our impact on the marine environment while enjoying this beautiful location. In fact, we have to be aware that the corals provide protection and shelter for so many different species of fish.
Coral turns carbon dioxide in the water into a limestone shell. Without coral, the amount of carbon dioxide in the water would rise dramatically and that would affect all living things on our earth and also the quality of the visitor experience to this wonderful area.
SNORKELING:
- Where possible practice snorkel techniques away from live coral: be careful of where you swim with your fins at all times and manage fin kicks, particularly in shallow water, be aware of moving up sediment.
- Do not rest or stand on c If you must stand up, make sure it’s on sand. You could destroy coral reefs; without reefs fish cannot live or reproduce.
- Do not lean on coral for support when taking underwater photographs and avoid touching fragile coral stand
- Do not jab with fingers or interfere with any plants or animals, you may destroy their habitats and disturb the ecosystem
- Enjoy observing animals rather than touching the Manipulating some animals or live corals can be dangerous.
- Do not track or try to capture free-swimming an Avoid blocking their pathway.
- Do not pick up anything underwater, living or dead; always return it to exactly the same place.
- Take time to learn about the underwater environment. Don’t hesitate to ask questions to your guid
FEEDING FISH:
- Please do not feed the fish.
- They would get used to another type of food which doesn’t exist underwater, or they may get sick. Fish feeding results in changing their feeding behaviour and they won’t graze on algae which, if not managed by the fish, can choke the c
- When animals become habituated to being fed by snorkelers, they may lose some of their ability to find food on their own, or create diseases which can affect population size.
- Fish have their own nourishment in the marine biodiversity, which is adapted to their particularities; fish feeding disrupts the natural balance of marine ecosystems.
- If we feed fish, the extra food can stop the fish feeding from their natural habitat. This is important to maintain a healthy ecosystem.
- Fish food tends to make fish more aggressive, and it may also have a damaging effect on the reef and ecosystem
WASTE DISPOSAL
- If a boat does not provide toilets, visitors should use toilets before reaching and after leaving the reef, visitors should not urinate in the wat Corals grow in low nutrient waters. If you urinate, the nutrient level in the water increases and that has negative effect on the corals. Corals eventually die when they are exposed to water mixed with urine.
- Use biodegradable sunscreen, because UV blocking chemicals used in many popular sunscreens (parabens, cinnamare, benzophenone, camphor derivatives), can rapidly cause viral infections that promote coral bleaching which kills off coral even at a low concentration. Sunscreens leave a film on the surface water that actually blocks essential UV rays for the marine life and ecosystem
- Koh Surin Island provides recycling containers (glass, plastic, cans…) so keep your garbage on the boat and dispose of it at a recycling depot on shore.
