In early March, Andaman Discoveries, was happy to welcome our first Thai group for a Koh Phratong tour! This group of 16 came from Talaysap, Chumphon, Nicole’s Peace Corps site, to visit a new place in Thailand and explore the nature of their country. The tour started in the Kuraburi morning market with rice soup and snacks, lead by a trip to the Phrathong warship that was previously docked at the Tung La Ong Pier. Although most of the group was over sixty years old, no one hesitate to get involved in the activities!
We then boarded a long tail boat for a trip through the mangroves out to the village of Ta Pae Yoi on Koh Phratong. The group received a warm welcome from the community, a village tour, and then enjoyed a delicious lunch at the home of Noon and Eit. They roasted fresh cashew nuts and learned about the local environment before taking a tractor ride to the beach where they spent the night at a local bungalow. The next morning everyone was impressed on their Koh Phrathong Savahanna tour and surprised to see that this natural wonder exists not too far from their own home.
Special thanks to the local government office and health center of Talaysap village for sponsoring this interactive learning experience!
