The first ever ‘Sports Day’ was held at the learning center on the 28th November, 2013. The students were buzzing with excitement and smiles were ever present as they participated in the sporting events. Kruu Ched provided the opening address filled with motivations and the occasional joke that provoked laughter from the children and the staff. Events included a relay race, games of‘cat and mouse, a hula hoop competition and football.
The highlight of the event struck when two of the nursery students, still dressed in their school uniforms and intent on winning the race ran passed their cues to turn around causing the crowd to breakdown in laughter! To the surprise of the teachers, the snacks and drinks provided were mostly ignored as the attention of the students was immersed in the activities. The day ended with simple trinkets and certificates presented to the students to mark their participation in the events. Although this event was smaller and less equipped than a traditional Thai school sports day, it was surpassed in spirit and enthusiasm!
