5 E/S Introductions, professions Says, “I’m a teacher. What do you do?” Rolls basketball around. Ss practice asking each other. Responds Basketball, whiteboard 5 – 10 min
6 E/S Introductions, age (numbers and plurals recap) Says, “I’m 34 years old. How old are you?” Rolls basketball around. Ss practice asking each other ages. Responds Basketball, whiteboard 5 – 10 min
7 E/S Introductions Drills “It’s nice to meet you.” Then uses puppets to show response “It’s nice to meet you, too.” Practice with several Ss Responds Whiteboard, Puppets 5 min
8 E/S Introductions Models “Goodbye” by walking out the door. Says “Hello” when re-entering. Drills “Goodbye.” Repeats Whiteboard. 2 min
9 S/A Introductions Calls on Ss to come to front of the room and sit. Says “Hello.” Ss respond.      
10 S/A Introductions Arranges six pairs of chairs around the room. Pairs Ss. Have them sit together and practice the conversation.[3] Monitors and corrects. Works in pairs to practice introductions Chairs 10 min
11 A Introductions Rearrange pairs.  individually practice the conversation in front of the class. Ss have introduce each other    
12 S Introductions, auto-biographies Hands out paper task. Asks Ss to fold paper in half, then read and answer questions 1 – 4. Work with buddy. Works with buddy. Paper task 1: “auto-biographies  
13 S Introductions, auto-biographies Asks Ss to unfold their papers. Chooses a Ss to sit in front of class. Asks Ss questions 5 – 8 while writing answers in narrative form on board. Erases narrative. Uses puppets to act out the command:
Puppet 1 “Please repeat: hello.”
Puppet 2 “Hello.”
Puppet 1 “Please repeat: How are you?”
Puppet 2: “How are you?”

Teacher: “Please repeat: I don’t understand.” Drills this command. 
Randomly asks questions like “What’s the square root of Avogadro’s number times by pi?” 

Teacher: “Please repeat: Please slow down.” Drills this command.
Randomly asks students questions at high speed.

Teacher, whispering: “Please repeat: Be quiet.” Drills this command.
Uses forefinger sign.

Teacher, using TPR: “close your book.”

Post Lesson:
Although very basic, I felt this lesson was valuable in that it made Ss more comfortable speaking and with their pronunciation. At the end of the lesson I could discern improvements in overall confidence.
