Beach Sunset

For my family and I the thought of staying in a stranger’s house, in a foreign country, with the inability to speak the language was a scary prospect. However our experience in the village was one that we will remember for the care and kindness of the village people. We were met with open arms and throughout our needs were catered for. Our host was extremely generous in letting us share her home and was very open towards us.

Our visit was during the time of Ramadan, so obviously our host was unable to eat with usduring the day, however she was more than willing to cook us a delicious Thai meal each day; this I am very grateful for. We wanted to challenge ourselves and go out of our comfort zones during the trip and this was perfect as it was interesting to see how different but also similar our lives were and we were able to learn and adapt to customs that we were just not used to. There was never a point where we felt  uncomfortable or unsafe and we were cared for in such a way that by the end we were extremely at home in the village.

Our guide was amazing and aided the conversation between the village people and us; without her I’m sure our experience would not have been as amazing. It was not only our host who was welcoming but all the guides and local people were very kind towards us and we were humbled to feel part of the community. The activities were extremely enjoyable and we have learned so much about the people’s way of life through these. Overall we would highly recommend this once in a life time experience.
