These small group tours provide an affordable way for individuals, budget travellers, and families to experience the magic of a cultural tour in this fascinating and beautiful area of Southern Thailand. They also provide an excellent opportunity to meet like-minded people and share this amazing experience with new-found friends. Take part in activities such as fishing on the beach, weaving Nipa palm leaves to make a traditional thatched roof, or making your very own batik painting. Group sizes are kept deliberately small to enhance the experience for both guests and villagers alike.

Despite being only a few hours travel from the tourist resorts of Phuket and Khao Lak, the North Andaman region still retains its cultural diversity and charm. The people of the region consist of Muslims, Buddhists, and Moken Sea Gypsies, each with their own unique culture, history, and traditions. The majority of local fishermen and farmers still make their living by traditional methods, despite the encroachment of commercial fishing, shrimp farming, and oil palm plantations. Unfortunately much of the area's fauna and flora is under threat from habitat loss and over-use, but the local communities are realising the potential of sustainable tourism as a way to counter these threats and conserve the ecological and cultural integrity of the region.

By taking one of our Cultural Tours you will have the opportunity to experience the traditional Thai way of life firsthand. You can have fun exploring the local mangrove channels by long-tail boat, making natural handmade soaps with the local soap cooperative, or helping you host family create and then devour a delicious home-cooked Thai meal!

Furthermore, taking part in one of thee tours provides much needed income for the local communities, as well as giving them a sense of price and self-worth that encourages them to fight to protect their cultural and environmental heritage. While engaging with these warm and fascinating people you can relax in the knowledge that your very presence helps to preserve the value and integrity of their way of life.
