Fast Facts:
- Accommodation: Comfortable homestay in village or bungalows nearby (on request)
- Getting there: The tour starts at the village, we can arrange any additional transport for you on request

- Meals: All meals and refreshments during your time in the village are included

- Language requirements: No Thai language is required. We will provide you with an English/Thai phrasebook to assist you with communication
- Availability: All year round, Nakha river rafting is only available from October – December (when the Nakha water lilly is in bloom).
- Trip length: 2 and 3 day tours are available, we can customize a tour for you if this period does not suit

Andaman Discoveries is based in Kuraburi, a relatively undeveloped area just north of the resorts of Phuket and Khao Lak. The villages nearby are peaceful and open-hearted, with very little traffic, making it a perfect place for your children to play, relax and learn about the Thai way of life.

Our family to family experiences have been specially designed with children in mind. This experience offers excellent personal development opportunities while raising cultural and environmental awareness.
Choose from a 2 or 3 day family experience. The activities available are both fun and educational: they encourage experiential learning, cultural awareness, and global citizenship.
Depending on when you visit and for how long, the following family friendly activities are possible:
- Relax on a boat tour through brilliantly bio-diverse mangrove canals
- Enjoy delicious home-cooked meals with your host family and learn how to cook a tasty Thai dessert
- Get creative and have the family join in the women's craft group in making soap from natural ingredients
- Learn how to weave nypa palm in the traditional way
- Rafting down the river when the endangered Nakha water lily is in full bloom — a sensational sight not to be missed!
- Join your local guide for family fun with a traditional fishing activity
Don't forget to relax with your children in the splendour of a sunset on a safe and tranquil beach on the Andaman coast. After dinner, end the day with a wonderful & warm cultural exchange between your family and your Thai host family; a most rewarding end to a fun filled day.
Our translator will accompany your family throughout your time in the village, to make sure you can fully interact with the people you meet. Andaman Discoveries also provides extensive pre-trip information to help your family understand the local customs and culture. Our family tours provide a safe and supportive environment for children to engage with people from other cultures and to enjoy a different way of life.
How you make a difference
You can be confident that your visit will genuinely benefit the villagers including your host family. Your visit provides income and employment for community members. This keeps families together as family members can stay in the village rather than seeking employment in towns far away. Funds from your trip also contribute towards protecting the heritage of the region.
Andaman Discoveries has been working with our partner communities since 2005 to directly support village-led education, conservation and cultural empowerment. Your presence contributes to the local community fund and to Andaman Discoveries' ongoing social and environmental projects.
